Last Friday we had our first critique and I was in Rachel's group. I think we all had a successful critique I really enjoyed seeing the other students work and getting the feed back for my work. Everyone made it pretty clear that my girly personality comes through in my work. But they also said that liked how i can limit that from when I do work for my job, Rutgers Football! Rachel made a comment that I should just go full out girly girly pink. Maybe it's what I need to do to get it out of my head or maybe that is what I really am and i just need to find it better. She also said how I need to do more work that is driven by myself not a client or a project and I agree!
I got great feedback on my Flytter project. I would like to take it a step further and make it Bigger and better by filling and entire room with my twitter post-it notes. I would continue to follow Taylor Swift on Twitter and recreate them on post-it notes. I would do this for how ever long I would need to so i would have enough to fill the room. I think it would be exciting to see a room filled with brightly colored post-it notes and Taylor Swift's tweets.
I found an artist from the Brooklyn Museum: Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art her name is Joan Arbeiter. She is drawn to people nature and the ironies of her pre feminist circumstance, which is kind of what I am interested in. Her Piece What! Can Anything Be Better Than Tide? is a college that consists of a vintage snapshot, clothesline, clothes pins, a poem and what seems to be an add in the background. There is a "pretty" women who is overwhelmed by her clean laundry 1950's detergent advertisement. I like that way she colleges the vintage add with the photo and found objects. I also like that bright colors and the typical 1950s look of the ad and women. She has a few others that she includes in her series that deal with the same advertisements, ironies, and college mixed media. This is definitely something I would like to do and possibly use as reference for my "wifey" project. I'm not sure if that is something I would like to pursue for Thesis yet but it is something I would like to do for myself and maybe it can mature into thesis.

Good research!
